A preview of an upcoming sale at Doyle in Manhattan came with some entertainment. A Polyphon Walnut Music Box  from Leipzig, Germany estimated at $5,000 to $7,000 will be auctioned next week. An associate was happy to wind it for us to the effect of a rich rendition of “She was one of the early birds,” one of the songs on 20 disks.  It plays beautifully, but the door has some damage.
