Last evening provided an opportunity to view the International Vintage Poster Fair at 123 W 18th St, 4th Floor in New York. I’ve had my fill of cheese lately, and I wondered if there was any caution before the decision to serve red wine that’s inevitably carried around so many valuable, and porous, posters. I stayed almost up to the 9 p.m. close and didn’t note any spills, so as they say, all is well that ends well. Some photos are provided above, and a more detailed entry will come later. The show sontinues through Sunday, then it repeats in San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center.
Also this weekend, the The International Fine Art & Antique Dealers Show promises exceptional quality works of art from antiquity to the present day including sculpture, bronzes, furniture, carpets and textiles, jewellery, pictures, ceramics and glass. This show at the Park Avenue Armory, continues through Thursday.
Finally, a show just outside of Pittsburgh I have attended several times, the Sewickley Valley Antiques Show is held at the Edgeworth Club in Sewickley, PA. It’s a nice show, and I only wish they had a web site. It’s a point of contention that you can talk about attracting a younger audience to these shows as much as you want, but if you don’t even make an effort to put up a web site… you can continue the sentence. The world has chaged folks, if you can’t click on it, it doesn’t exist.
UPDATE: Stella’s Modern Show is also this weekend (near Empire State Building). See our calendar for details.
