When Philadelphia throws a party, as it does for Philadelphia Antiques Week, April 27 – May 1, there’s so much to see and do that it takes a travel guide to plan an itinerary that allows enough time to take in the antiques shows and the city’s sites. So, the publishers of PhiladelphiaAntiquesWeek.com have provided a three-day tour of the city’s best attractions and posted them on the site’s travel page.
The travel advice is accompanied by a daily calendar of events that gives time and place of lectures, previews, auctions, and more. Together, they make easy work of negotiating the Philadelphia Antiques Show, the 23rd Street Armory Show, the Freemans Americana auction and the Old City Auction previews.
Written with the collector in mind, “Three Days in Philadelphia” begins with breakfast at the Reading Terminal Market, sees visitors through the Philadelphia Antiques Show at the Convention Center and the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art, before sending them to the Warsaw Café, a Philadelphia staple in Center City.
Day Two has visitors breakfasting at DiBruno Brothers, taking in the Freemans auction preview, where American flags from the collection of the late H. Richard Dietrich, Jr. is akin to a patriotic tour. From there, it’s on to Schwarz Gallery, the Philadelphia Museum of art and dinner at La Viola.
Day three has visitors spending as much time as needed at the 23rd Street Armory Show, now in its eighteenth year. Old City Auction, Philadelphia’s newest auction house is holding a sale on Sunday, March 29, so there’s plenty to do, making for a full and exciting weekend.
If you need more reasons to visit Philadelphia Antiques Week, the publishers of Antiques Weeks Media offer “5 Things to Do in Philadelphia.” The blog, which was posted to the site in March, has been one of the items receiving the highest traffic.
The list adds to the 3-Days highlights by providing options at historic St. Peter’s Church, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Wanamaker Organ Performances, Woodmere Museum of Art. Also check out the map and app download.
